Why do we resist GREATNESS?
Are we all just a bunch of natural-born masochists and martyrs? Does our culture manufacture average and breed conformity? Is Facebook the perpetrator of mediocrity?
Think of all the ways you’ve experienced personal resistance to change and self-improvement in your life.
Thought about losing weight or working out? Vowed to spend more quality time with your loved ones? Had a vision of a career you’ve always wanted but stuck in a job you hate? Had plans to go back to school to get another degree? Wanted to begin volunteering in your community?
There is a voice inside every one of us, telling us to shoot for the stars. To go for the gold, to dream big, live out loud, challenge ourselves, to give to others and to change our lives for the better.
Are you listening to that voice? More importantly, do you even hear it?
If we are built to succeed, destined to be great and possess the ability to be larger than life, how do we get our body, our heart our mind and our soul to Fall in Line???
I’ve come to believe that the answer is attitude. That’s right…
ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING.
Let me spell it out for you in the simplest of terms…
Ain’t that the darndest thing… if you approach any of the following with a bad attitude:
Your day, your family, your commute to work, your job, the people you encounter throughout your day, your finances or education, your diet or workout, your free time, your goals, aspirations and visions for your future…
…Then you are bound to have a pretty crappy crap day.
And you know what? Serves you right… because no one likes the miserable SOB. Nobody calls Debbie Downer on Friday night to see what she’s up to. Not only did Negative Nancy not appear in the high school superlative… she didn’t even qualify.
Same thing applies in your every day life– There is no award-winning category for “Best Wost Attitude.”
My Mom always says, “You have to ACT your way into a positive way of BEING.” Gosh, that lady is wise.
So how do you put that into practice? How do you get yourself to Fall in Line?
There are a million bajillion (yes, bajillion) ways. I’ll give you five fo’ free, and the rest will cost you just two easy payments of $19.99 (*plus the cost of shipping and handling). But if you order now… I’ll even throw in a bonus gift.
FIVE WAYS TO GET YOUR MIND, BODY, HEART AND SOUL TO FALL IN LINE
1. Get on up out the right side o’ the bed!
You should begin each day being absurdly and wildly happy. You know why? One, because your alive, and two, because your day hasn’t given you a reason not to be! Yesterday was kinda blah? So what! It’s over! Today is full of meetings you don’t want to go to and work you don’t feel like doing? Oh well! Enjoy it because you can, and because being miserable is even more work than a full-time job.
2. Laugh it off!
There is NO WAY life was meant to be so serious. I mean, honestly. If you can’t find humor in your day, we best find someone to check your pulse. There is so much out there in the world that we don’t understand, wish we could change, and if only we were in charge we’d do it way better. Rather than going all emo on the world, have a laugh… or two… or threehehe!
3. BE the positive!
If you know your day is going to be long and you know it’s filled with a million things you don’t really want to do and you know you’ll be surrounded by people who drive you nuts… BE that source of positive energy, laughter, love and life. It’s contagious, and you never know how it might positively impact someone else’s day.
4. Do the next right thing!
Did you eat a really big nasty gross greasy cheeseburger today that’s SO not in your clean-eating meal plan? Ok, fine, no big deal… Do an extra 30 minutes of cardio at the gym tonight and get right back on your meal plan at the next meal. This is just one example. Easy breezy. Moving right along…
5. Don’t take yourself so seriously!
Seriously. Nobody else does.
I’ve been self-medicating on my own words every day this week. Beginning my first week of the next eight months of figure competition training (FIGURE-ing it Out), I had to have a committee meeting at the beginning of the week. You know what I told them??
LISTEN UP, Mind, Body, Heart and Soul… This is my dream, and I have goals. I am going to give my 100% and there is no way I’m turning back, giving up or giving in. You best get on board.
What’s something in your life you’ve been resisting that you could benefit from a meeting with your committee to get them to Fall in Line?
